Professional Experience

Product Designer & Engineer Medlock LLC

2019 - Present

Medlock LLC, Charlottesville, VA

  • Lead in the design, development, and implementation of two products involving tracking medication for recovering addicts.
  • Developed the internals and modified the utility of the products over the course of two years.
  • Enables tracking of consumption and provides data relative to addiction treatment. Designed to reduce patient drop-out rates for addiction recovery.
  • Device uses parallel plate capacitors as sensors to determine number of opioid strips at any given time.

USPTO Assistant Patent Examiner

2017 - 2018

United States Patent and Trademark Office, Alexandria, VA

  • Reviewed three patent applications related to autonomous vehicles and other technical topics. Examined novel technical qualities to create patent rejections and refine patent applications.
  • Created official office actions in response to patent application claims. Helped patent applicants and patent examiners with resolving open applications.
  • Critically examined complex technical documents and patents to create office actions. Developed skills in comprehending and researching technical documents involving a wide variety of fields.

Undergraduate Honors Research

2017 - 2018

University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK

  • Simulated damage scenarios in shipboard power systems using MATLAB Simulink. Simulated faults including short circuits, open circuits, and other spontaneous electrical errors.
  • Measured the resulting waveforms at various points to create a debug profile for each type of fault simulated.
  • Research resulted in a co-authored published paper regarding DC shipboard power systems.
